I have experience of all aspects of commercial property in both private and public sector management. My current role is Commercial Property Surveyor in the Corporate Property Team at Norfolk County Council.
I have a strong interest in training and development, especially encouraging the next generation into choosing surveying as a career. I am a STEM Ambassador for Norfolk and I am a RICS APC Mentor and Counsellor for the Commercial Property pathway.
I served as Vice Chair of Matrics Norfolk during 2016/17 and am Chair for 2017/18.
I was elected to the transitional RICS Governing Council in November 2017.
I have nearly 20 years experience in the residential property sector and my career has grown from front-line administrative roles to director of one of the country’s largest property firms providing residential survey and valuation advice to house buyers and hope owners.
Along the way, I qualified as both chartered surveyor with the RICS and customer experience professional with the CXPA. Customer experience and surveying may seem an unusual mix. I have spent most of my career working in a complaint and claim environment. A number of years ago started to take a proactive and strategic approach setting surveyors up for success rather than analysing root cause and looking for blame. It made for a much more pleasant working environment!
I now advise companies, SME’s, consumer bodies and education and training establishments on customer experience strategy, measurement, improvement and employee advocacy techniques and solutions.
I set up the Women in Surveying Sisterhood Summit aimed at sharing the conversations women surveyors are having. With less than 14% of women in the industry it’s proved quite a talking point. Find out more at www.womeninsurveying.com
I had a traditional training as a Quantity Surveyor and will be celebrating 25 years in the Construction industry this year 2018. I became a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 2010 #Love Surveying.
I am passionate, driven, organised and effective but my strength is being part of the team.
I have worked at all levels starting out as a Trainee up to Managing other Surveyors for some of the UK’s largest Contractors and been involved in a wide range of projects including new builds of schools, fire stations, offices, hotels and high rise residential and the refurbishment of some of London’s iconic buildings.
For most of my career I have felt, and been treated very differently, not because of my ability but because I stood out from the crowd. I was a woman in a man’s world a source at times I have struggled but it has also brought great opportunity.
Let’s celebrate our differences, be diverse but most of all be authentic to ourselves.
I’m a Built Infrastructure Surveyor, specialising in the Commercial Cost Management of major infrastructure frameworks and projects, notably in Water Utilities and Aviation.
I’m skilled in forecasting, change management, NEC3 contract management and contract administration.
Diversity, Inclusion and Teamworking within the Construction Industry is a passion that I’m keen to continue to champion throughout my future career. Please do contact me for more information about my involvement in current Diversity initiatives, or follow me on my Twitter account.
