#Celebr8Surveyors

I am so excited to be ready to share #celebr8surveyors with you all.

#celebr8surveyors launching 16th January

But first a bit of background:

In 2017, I was featured in an online campaign to celebrate women from all walks of life. It was a great showcase, it boosted my self-esteem, extended my network personally and professionally, and encouraged me to celebrate myself and celebrate others too. The campaign for #celebratingwomen was inspirational.

Then, in 2018 when Team Sisterhood came together on Twitter, I started thinking about how we could increase the visibility of surveyors but also create a space to share more of what we do to help inspire the next generation to choose surveying as a career by creating a resource about what we do. I often speak in schools and it can be difficult to convey the breadth and depth of what we do and sometimes you want to have a team of diverse surveyors with you on the stage to help you show and tell and bring a career to life!

Most of all, I believe we rise by lifting others up.

The RICS is currently showcasing pride in our profession.  Right now, votes are being cast to select the top ten surveyors of all time for the #prideintheprofession campaign, celebrating 150 years of surveying successes.

Throughout its 150th anniversary year, the RICS has been celebrating the amazing achievements of the urbanists, mappers, environmentalists, first movers, city shapers, standard setters, restorers, innovators, pioneers and influencers making up our profession.

Don’t forget to cast your votes 1st February here.

So what is #celebr8surveyors all about?

YOU!

If you are a surveyor it is about you.

Newly qualified or established, apprentice, graduate, APC candidate, mentor, assessor, managing director, AssocRICS, MRICS, FRICS, any gender, any race, any background.

Whoever you are we want to hear about you!

Back in September I put an open call out to create a series of blog posts from surveyors. I was intending on profiling surveyors and sharing these via this blog.  I was inundated with expressions of interest and draft posts.

I started asking for photos, biographies and blog articles and quickly the idea of creating a wall of surveyors faces was all I could think about. A wall of photos that showcase the breadth depth and diversity of the profession. With details about career paths, journeys, changes and achievements. A real slice of who surveyors are.

Hosting blogs behind a photo gallery speaks to my sense of curiosity.  It’s visual and engaging.

This is all about you, the surveyor, the person, your stories.

I’m here to celebrate you and what you do.

We will be adding photo’s and profiles as our volunteers share them.  Week by week we will build a wall of photo’s showcasing surveyors from different sectors of the industry.  Giving each an opportunity to share their story, in their words.

Each week, on a Wednesday, we will celebrate a surveyor by posting their profile via a series of tweets and a LinkedIn post. Their photo and blog will remain on the #celebr8surveyors gallery for anyone to access at anytime.

Our first celebration will be posted out to Twitter and LinkedIn on Wednesday 16th January and I cannot wait to share it with you all!

If you want to be showcased please get in touch with me on Twitter @camsparkle or on LinkedIn, we are going to be posting profiles each week throughout the year!
